Linux systems engineer to work on the design and maintenance procedures of high performance distributed database solution, using Linux and an open source database.

• Improve and maintain, as part of a team, an automated install process for the OS, database, and various other pieces of software as required to get our product set up and easily deployable
• Improve, implement and maintain, as part of a team, a monitoring/alerting solution for our product
• Improve, implement and maintain, as part of a team, a security solution for our product on the windows platform
• Improve, implement and maintain, as part of a team, a robust build process that will be used by our value add partner
• Assist with new hardware evaluation process and product integration

• 10+ years combined systems engineering and administration experience
• 7-8+ years experience as a linux systems engineer
• Strong system engineering/analytical/problem solving skills in a team environment
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
• Strong written and verbal communications skills
• Ability to establish and maintain a good working relationship with all levels of the organization
• Experience managing time and resources to meet assigned deadlines
• Strong background in designing, implementing, and managing enterprise-class systems

Desired Skills

• Current experience in systems engineering and integration
• Background in linux 64bit enterprise OS’s
• Extensive experience with bash scripting required, knowledge of other languages a plus (ex. Python, perl, etc)
• Strong background in SNMP and enterprise monitoring solutions
• Strong background in EMC storage, other SAN solutions as long as local storage solutions
• Strong background in network administration (switches, routers, VPN, etc.)
• Familiar with Data center environments (power, cooling, etc.)
• Experience with building linux installers (ex. RPM)
• Experience with Dell Open Manage suite of tools is a plus
• Experience with Dell Poweredge and Power connect products a plus
• Experience with infinband a plus
• Experience with fiber channel a plus
