Now companies can view their business in
a whole new way
DATAllegro entered the market in 2003 with the goal of making data warehousing more affordable and more valuable to companies than any other offering. After researching the technology available at that time, DATAllegro invented a new way of distributing data across a number of servers and then running queries in parallel. Integrated with hardware, storage and a database, the end result was a data warehouse appliance that represented a true breakthrough in data warehouse price/performance. Instead of paying millions for a traditional system, companies could achieve a 10-100x improvement in query performance, at a fraction of the cost of other providers.
DATAllegro’s first and second product releases helped many companies better understand their businesses by providing extremely fast query performance and by making it affordable to analyze larger volumes of data than ever before. However, DATAllegro was like all other first generation data warehouse appliances which used proprietary technology or, at best, custom assembled commodity components. These types of solutions are limited in their ability to leverage technological advancements provided by other leading products such as storage and server technology with the consequences being lower reliability, slower advancement and less innovation.
DATAllegro realized it was time to raise the bar again. In order to provide customers continual advances in performance as well as the reliability needed for enterprise-class data warehouse projects, DATAllegro decided to combine its patent-pending software with a platform that was flexible, modular and open. In February of 2007, DATAllegro achieved its goal with the release of DATAllegro v3.
DATAllegro v3 represents the launch of a second generation of data warehouse appliances that leverage the most reliable and advanced, standards-based technologies on the market. EMC® storage, Dell™ servers, Cisco® InfiniBand switches, Intel® multi-core CPUs and the Ingres® open source database were each chosen by DATAllegro based on their strength in supporting large-scale data warehousing. The result is the low cost and high performance from first generation appliances as well as the reliability and scalability of second generation appliances.
